2016

The early part of 2016 saw the Scouts visit Isle Jump and have a swimming session at UKSA.

In April we joined the rest of the Group for the District St George's Day Service and we also had a sleepover in the Pack Holiday Centre at Corf.

In May we had our Group AGM and Presentation Evening followed by County Scout Camp. We retained our Gold penant for camping standards and also first place in the sedan chair race and we came 2nd in the jawbone competition at campfire.

In June we had a Group trip to Brownsea Island which 64 members attended , the weather was lovely and we all enjoyed a day on the island seeing where the first ever Scout camp was held and taking part in activities that were run at that camp. Also in June we had a guided fossil walk along Yavarland beach and between us found quite a few fossils. In July we had sessions of archery and rifle shooting and 4 Scouts undertook the Expedition Challenge.

Summer 2015

This summer Scouts all had a turn at air rifle shooting , archery and fencing. We also attended a joint camp with Explorers where Scouts learnt how to prepare and cook rabbit as well as build and race rafts and do some kayaking.

Spring 2015

In April we went to Rock Up Indoor Climbing Cente which is at Whitely Village , we took two mini buses of Scouts and Explorers who all enjoyed the afternoon and many of which have asked to go again.

At the Start of May five of our older Scouts completed their Expedition Challenge hiking for two days with an overnight stop. They carried their own kit including tents and cooking equipment. Well done to these five who are all due to receive their Chief Scout Gold Award at our Presentation Evening in July.

At the end of May fourteen Scouts attended this years County Scout Camp at Corf. We are very proud of our Scouts who won the raft race and sedan chair race , they also won the Jawbone competion for best sketch at campfire and were the only Troop to achive a Gold penant for camping standards. Other activites Scouts took part in over the weekend included a bug hunt , target shooting and archery.

In June we held a Group event for all our Sections and Scouts camped for two nights and took part in various activites with the Beavers and Cubs over the weekend as well as helping to open gates for the Needles Half Marathon on the Sunday morning of the camp.
