At the north of the Isle of Wight, the Headquarters of 2nd Cowes can be found in Smithards Lane, West Cowes, about a 10 minute walk from the High Street.  The building, which was reroofed and refurbished in 2012, is available for visiting Scouts & Guides.  This can accommodate 30 persons (no beds) with a grassed area at the rear which is suitable for games, barbeques, etc. or can even be used for 2 or 3 patrol tents.  There is a fully equipped kitchen which was refitted in 2009, central heating and hot showers, and the hall has disabled facilities.  It is also approved by the Guides for overnight use.  For more information on hall see Scoutbase - 2nd Cowes.

Groups from the mainland regularly return to use the premises as a base for exploring the Isle of Wight, or for self-catering when using the adjacent water activity centres of UKSA or IYWAC.  It can also be used as a stopover point for those hiking around the Island.  For those travelling by foot, it is about 15 minutes from the Southampton to Cowes fast ferry (Red Jet).

As well as supermarkets in the town there is a local food shop, 5 minutes walk from the premises.   About 300 yards away is the start of the picturesque Cowes to Newport cycle path, which follows the old railway track alongside the banks of the River Medina.
