What to do.

In addition to the usual kit to be found in a scout hut…

On the doorstep are the two nature reserves for exploring wildlife and an open recreation area. A network of foot, bridle and cycle paths criss cross the island for your hikes.

The safe sandy beach is under a mile with a range of activities available. Wight Waters offer a range of water sports and hire equipment.

Sea fishing is popular, call in at Goodyears Outdoors for bait, tackle and the latest hotspot advice.

English Heritage look after Osborne House, Queen Victoria’s residence and Carisbrooke Castle. Pre arrange your visit for free entry.

There are many paid attractions on the island too, some offer discounted entry." Visit isle of Wight" is a good starting point.

Shanklin s main shopping area is only a short walk away. Here you will find a choice of Co-ops , a Lidl and a range of local suppliers including Paul Murphy butchers (01983 864245) who are very supportive of Scouting locally.  Further afield we have Morrisons at Lake, Sainsburys at Newport and a 24 hour Tesco at Brading.  Aldi and Asda are currently being built.
