7 Chief Scouts Gold Awards

Seven Scouts from 2nd Ryde Sea Scouts were recently presented with the highest award that a scout can achieve

The Chief Scout Gold Award was achieved by Moses Gale, Tyler Young, Joseph Rowe, Scott McKenzie, James Middleton, Connor French, and Jordan Aspinall.

The awards were presented by the President of Isle of Wight Scouting. Sir Guy Acland and the County Commissioner Anthony Roberts at a presentation evening at the group’s headquarters, Somerset Rd. Ryde. Attended by the District Commissioner, Valerie Petley-Shaw, Group Scout Leader, John Dickinson. Section Leaders, Executive members and Parents. followed by the cutting of a celebration cake and refreshments
To achieve the award the scouts had to complete the following challenges, Promise, Creative, Adventure, Expedition. Community. Global, Outdoor, Fitness and Outdoor Plus
These were the first awards of this type to be presented to scouts within the group and were achieved under the guidance of Scout leaders John and Sue Budd, over a 2 year period

The group currently has 66 members across the sections, made up of boys and girls, many of who are special needs, and is now in its 102nd year.
