Meet Dave Simpson – he’s our new County Commissioner

Dear all

We are delighted to let you know that Dave Simpson has been appointed by Ian (as Regional Commissioner, South East) to succeed Paul as Island Commissioner for the Isle of Wight.  He will take over from Paul at Corf at a leader’s social (date and time tbc). Dave will officially start on 1st August 2019.

Dave started his Scouting aged 8 when he joined cubs and would have joined earlier had they let him.  Since then he has held a number of roles, starting as a young leader and most recently DESC in East Wight and Hertford Districts.  Professionally he forged a career in IT, spending 18 years with CSC, before their redundancy programme finally caught up with him, at which time it was decided a complete career change was in order and moved to the island and bought a hotel in Sandown.

Over the next few months, Dave will be transitioning into the role of IC albeit that this will largely be in the background.  This will involve both of us spending time with Dave as will other members of the County team and the Regional team.  This will allow Dave to be ready to take over from Paul who finishes his role in July.

We are sure that you will join us both in congratulating and thanking Dave for taking on the role of County Commissioner and wishing him luck in the role.

With good wishes

 Ian Newbery
Regional Commissioner, South East England

Paul Savill
Island Commissioner, Isle of Wight
