Here’s a quick update/bulletin from the County Communication Team (Victoria, Mandy, Ali, Sam, Paul, Alan, Graham and MaC).
We don’t currently run a regular newsletter, but we need to give you a few bits of information.
First of all there are a couple of general news items we’d like to update you with:
If you go shopping in Asda and get one of their little charity tokens, please put it in the 6th Newport box. The collection runs from now until 31st March 2019. I don’t think I need to explain why……
Teams of 6 swimmers will be raising money for the Lions on Saturday 4th May 2019. Can you raise a team to join in? If so here’s a link to the entry form. (thanks Claire).
Saturday 9th February both Districts are holding a combined Beaver and Cub Fun Hike at 1st Northwood HQ. Graham is looking for help running bases, etc. If you’re a leader or an SAS member and can help, please contact Graham Walmsley or Linda Caws.
Most of you will know that our Youth Commissioner, Victoria Lawton is on the move. She’ll be leaving the Island in a couple of weeks to take up a new full time (PAID!) Scouting role in Dorset. She’s also been appointed to the National Youth Commissioners Team. On behalf of the Media Team I’d like to say a big “THANK YOU” for all the hard work and innovation you’ve given to the team and wish you every success in your new Scouting roles.
As Media Development Manager / County Communications Manager, I’ve called together a new County Comms Team to help me oversee our Communications, Media and PR operations. There’s a new team structure (see below) to split our operations into separate teams. We’ve got a couple of vacancies for Team Coordinators and we’re always ready to accept new members to the teams. Contact me on firstname.lastname@example.org if you’re interested in helping us or if you’ve got any questions about the roles.
With Victoria moving on we need a new Wight Rovers Media Team Controller. Could you be the one? POR requires that you’ll need to be over 18.
The role of the Media Team Coordinator is:
We’re creating a new role for a Wight Rovers Social Media Team Coordinator. Is this for you? POR requires that you’ll need to be over 18.
The role of the Social Media Coordinator is:
We’ve got a lot to do setting up the new PR Team so I’m going to fill this role myself for the time being.
Would you like to update the County website pages for your group or a section? If so please contact me on email@example.com
We’ll be recruiting members of all ages to join the Wight Rovers. The new Team Coordinator and I will be running more training courses, starting in the next couple of months. We’ll be taking the training further and including more badge work for the young people.
We’d like to see any adults who are involved in PR or recruitment on the training courses, to make sure you’re all up to speed with the new branding. We’d like to support you and make sure that the time you spend on PR and recruitment brings the maximum return. We’ll also be building up a stock of PR material for event use.
We’d also like to see any budding bloggers or social media experts who’d like to join the Wight Rovers and help promote IW Scouts on our social media. We need a number of people who can help us run Social Media from as many Scout events as possible. We’d like all team members to go through the Wight Rovers training course to create a baseline standard of media updating from which team members can develop their own style.
