West Wight District Scouts enjoyed the glorious weather at their recent scout camp, which was held at Corf over the weekend of 28 th – 30 th September. Scouts enjoyed shooting, archery, kayaking, tomahawks, bowling, climbing a scramble net, wide games, camp fires, back woods cooking and completing outdoor challenges. The weekend was rounded off nicely with a game of headhunters on Sunday morning. The atmosphere throughout the weekend was fantastic. Thank you to Barrie Price, scout leaders and their helpers for all your support over the weekend. Here are photos of some of the activities:
I had the privilege of attending the Lord Lieutenants Awards evening at the Royal Yacht Squadron on Wednesday 3 rd October. It was great to network with so many other voluntary organisations and watch awards presented to volunteers and cadets. A special congratulations to Anthony Roberts, who received a long service award for 12 years service to St. John Ambulance.
Having made a couple of nominations to the Age UK Pop Up Award’s, I was invited to attend their awards ceremony on Thursday
4th October at Lakeside Hotel, Wootton. Another great evening where people were recognised for their outstanding services to the community .
Many congratulations to Phil Coward for gaining second place in the Age Friendly Challenge of the year and second place in the Age Friendly Impact Award.
A delicious buffet was provided after the awards.
No one deserved these awards more than Phil. Many congratulations.
