On Saturday 25th August 2018 Northwood House will be the venue for the Isle of Wight Scouts Giant Teddy Bears Picnic, from 2pm to 5pm. Absolutely Everyone on the Island is welcome to come along, just bring one or more Teddy Bears and a Picnic and join us for an afternoon of fun and games.

There will be a small admission charge – The afternoon will be to raise funds for IW Scouts, Northwood House and Children In Need, so we would ask for a minimum donation of £2 for adults and £1 for under 16 year olds.

We’ll have some VIP guests and some VIC guests (Very Important Cuddlies). So far we’ve got confirmation of:

  • Captain Ted Funnel will sail the Red Funnel ferry to Cowes.
  • Toby Toymaster will be coming along as he’ll be staying with Nigel Young of the Sports and Model Shop in Shanklin (and Ryde) for that weekend.
  • A very special mystery Bear will come from the mainland.
  • Watch this space!

We’ll have some competitions with prizes for you to win, including:

  • The Poshest Picnic
  • The most unusual picnic offering
  • The most loved Cuddly (tattiest)
  • More to come!

We’ll have some activities for everyone to do, including:

  • Giant Jenga
  • Giant Connect 4
  • Twister
  • More to come!

There’ll be plenty to do and we make one request – any Scout group or section attending should bring a fundraising activity, so there’s even more for our Young People and our visitors to do.

We’re in the official IW Tourist guide: https://www.visitisleofwight.co.uk/whats-on/iw-scouts-giant-teddy-bears-picnic-p1549931

We need a team of helpers to run the car park and a couple of the activities we’ve already planned and if you’d like to get involved in the planning team or on the day contact MaC for more information. We’ll be adding more information as we agree it.

So go on, dig out those old Teddies in the attic, grab your family, friends, car rug and a picnic and come and have one last adventure at the end of the Summer Holidays! There’ll be prizes to win, VIPs to meet and LOADS OF FUN!

Check back here for more information nearer the day.
